A great free event with live music from local bands and solo artists, lots of cake, sandwiches, wine, beer, tea, coffee, did we mention homemade cake? There will be lots of that…. and very nice it will be too we promise! Come along meet staff volunteers and some of our service members, we look forward to seeing you there…
Below is a press release from the National Aids Trust asking Hertfordshire County Council to tackle the chronically high levels of late diagnosis in the County. Some areas have rates of over 25% above the national average, with the majority of these being in the west of the County.
We feel this is proof that the current countywide service is concentrating far too much effort in the East and North and not enough in the West. Figures published by Public Health England show that late diagnosis rates in Three Rivers, 67% Watford 52% St Albans 53% Dacorum 60% whereas North Herts is just 35%…
We really feel it is time Herts County Council and the Herts Valley Clinical Commissioning Group reinstated funding for our testing service that they decommissioned 4 years ago. Please feel free to write/email/tweet your County Councillor and MP asking that this be made a priority!
See a copy of the press release below..
Don’t forget if you think you may have been exposed to HIV or haven’t ever tested then you can do so using one of our postal testing kits. The service is entirely free and confidential, you can test at home or at our premises, collect a kit from us or ask for one to be posted to you. the results will be delivered to us after you have posted your sample. Please see our website http://www.thecrescent.org.uk or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more details.
Thanks for your support as ever

A great outcome from our Busking event, we raised over £1500 which will help us continue our work, a huge thank you to all who helped make the Stand Tall Exhibition, World AIDS Day and our Busking Day a great success. We are truly very humbled by the kind generosity of you all !
A link to the latest article above. Huge thanks to all who have helped keep us going in 2014, those who have volunteered, donated, gifted us and generally assisted us along the way, there are far too many to mention individually but together you make a great support team.
Merry Christmas one and all, and a very Happy New Year too.
See you in 2015,
With love and best wishes

Our open day last weekend was a really great event filled with good music, lots and lots of lovely homemade goodies, and a great crowd of people. We Were especially honoured to have the Mayor of St Albans City and District Councillor Geoff Haines attend, along with his Mayoress Moira, as well as the Bishop of St Albans, and the Sub Dean of the Abbey Church and Cathedral of St Alban too.
We must say big thanks to Denise Parsons for organising the bands, and of course to the musicians themselves, Tom Craven, Emma McGrath, Steve Dagleish, Neil Stanton and the lovely Starseedz who all donated their time and great skills to ensure the crowd was well entertained. You may see many of these acts again at our forthcoming Busking day in December so keep watching this space for more details on that.
We would also like to thank Emma’s Mum, Kate, our very own Fran and Sarah, for their hard work baking all the tasty treats on offer, and to our volunteers for helping put the day together, and for clearing up afterwards ! Thanks also to all you lovely people who came along, enjoyed cake and the music and found out more about the Crescent and our work. We also raised an amazing £500 on the day with more donations coming in as we type !
Further thanks to Radio Verulam and Lee Evans for the many photographs and interviews with staff and supporters which took place on the day too. A link to some of the many wonderful pictures and a video of our very supportive Mayor can be found here http://www.leeevansvideo.co.uk/first-joint-news-and-filming-event-goes-well-at-the-crescent-st-albans/
We have many events planned for the rest of 2014 including a concert and a busking day, plus a Christmas market cabin by the Cathedral and a huge event is planned for World Aids Day with a high profile exhibition at the Cathedral during November and December… keep watching this space !
