New Funding for Counselling Services

Hi all,

Apologies for not updating our blog recently, be assured we are busy working in the background to ensure those living or affected by HIV get the support they need.

We are very pleased to announce that we have received generous support from both the Hertfordshire Community Foundation (HCF) and the Make A Difference Trust (MAD) to fund our afternoon and evening counselling services for those living with, affected by, or at risk of acquiring HIV.

The service was officially launched by our Patron, Alex Mayer MEP on Friday in time for World Health Day, a link to the coverage is here http://www.stalbansreview.co.uk/news/16151356.new-hiv-support-group-at-the-crescent-st-albans/

We are now  in our 30th year supporting the community and are thrilled  to have received this support from both MAD and HCF, it will make an immeasurable difference to those accessing services at the Crescent.

There will be more to follow, dates for our next music event, a concert, a street collection and also our regular “Sizzles” with our wonderful friends at “Bunnings” will follow shortly.

Thanks as ever for your support,

The Crescent Team

World AIDS Day Events Last Weekend & a New Patron !

Dear All,

A fantastic weekend of events, On Friday we managed to get a huge number of commuters to take Red Ribbons to commemorate World Aids Day, also we collected a very substantial sum from those very kind folk during the day. We were honoured to be joined by our new Patron, Alex Mayer MEP who helped collect and distribute ribbons with us in the afternoon.

An article in the Herts Advertiser about our new Patron and our World AIDS day events here http://www.hertsad.co.uk/news/st-albans-hiv-charity-the-crescent-holds-events-for-world-aids-day-1-5302214

Our Busking Day on Saturday was similarly successful, we had many interesting conversations about HIV and the current issues and raised much awareness with over 1000 ribbons distributed on that day alone.

On Sunday our Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings was similarly busy, so much so that we will be back again on 17th December for another Sizzle at Bunnings in Griffiths Way !

A huge thank you to all who helped with the events, performed at the busking day and distributed ribbons. Most importantly thank you to all those who took a ribbon, donated and those who stopped to find out more about HIV and the Crescent’s work

We simply cannot do what we do without you !

Thanks as ever for your support

The Crescent Team
