Our Open Day 21st September – A Great Success !

Dear all,

Our open day last weekend was a really great event filled with good music, lots and lots of lovely homemade goodies, and a great crowd of people. We Were especially honoured to have the Mayor of St Albans City and District Councillor Geoff Haines attend, along with his Mayoress Moira, as well as the Bishop of St Albans, and the Sub Dean of the Abbey Church and Cathedral of St Alban too.

We must say big thanks to Denise Parsons for organising the bands, and of course to the musicians themselves, Tom Craven, Emma McGrath, Steve Dagleish, Neil Stanton and the lovely Starseedz who all donated their time and great skills to ensure the crowd was well entertained. You may see many of these acts again at our forthcoming Busking day in December so keep watching this space for more details on that.

We would also like to thank Emma’s Mum, Kate, our very own Fran and Sarah, for their hard work baking all the tasty treats on offer, and to our volunteers for helping put the day together, and for clearing up afterwards ! Thanks also to all you lovely people who came along, enjoyed cake and the music and found out more about the Crescent and our work. We also raised an amazing £500 on the day with more donations coming in as we type !

Further thanks to Radio Verulam and Lee Evans for the many photographs and interviews with staff and supporters which took place on the day too. A link to some of the many wonderful pictures and a video of our very supportive Mayor can be found here http://www.leeevansvideo.co.uk/first-joint-news-and-filming-event-goes-well-at-the-crescent-st-albans/

We have many events planned for the rest of 2014 including a concert and a busking day, plus a Christmas market cabin by the Cathedral and a huge event is planned for World Aids Day with a high profile exhibition at the Cathedral during November and December… keep watching this space !

Next week (Thursday 02 October from 7pm) we have our fashion show with Chloe James Lifestyle at the Cote Brasserie which is almost sold out, but even if it is, or you cannot make the date, there is a raffle with some simply marvellous prizes some worth £100’s so you could always buy a ticket or two ! Call Donna or Maria at Chloe James on 01727 843431, email enquiries@chloejameslifestyle.co.uk or call into the store at 12 High Street St Albans.

Thanks again for your support

Lord Rennard Supporting The Crescent

Dear all,

Lord Rennard has issued the following statement in support of our campaign to remain open and seek alternative funding;

“I fully support the work by the Crescent for people living with or affected by HIV, their partners, families and friends. This is a model organisation run by the people it helps, where those affected have a direct influence on how, and where, they receive the much needed help and support to enable them to manage their condition.”

You can find out more about Lord Rennard and his interests here; http://tinyurl.com/7pxf3pn

We are so very pleased to have so much high profile support, and wish to thank all of you for continuing to follow and support us too. The major fundraising events at the House of Lords are to begin shortly, we will keep you all informed of the progress. The Bishop of St Albans is due to visit next Monday along with representatives of the Diocese HIV Support Group and the local press, to find out more about our services and plans for the future.

Thanks for all your continued support, keep watching this space for more info, you can also follow us on twitter @crescentsupport too for more updates.
