A great review of the Chloe James Fashion Show Fundraiser

Hi All,

A great review of the Chloe James Charity Fashion show here http://stateofadress.com/chloe-james-catwalk-show/ ! The night went so very well and raised an amazing £1500 to which the lovely Annie Brewster our former Mayor added an additional £1000 which is simply fantastic!

We are so very grateful to all those who took part, bought a raffle ticket, to the lovely ladies at Chloe James Lifestyle who worked so hard to put this together for us and of course to Annie Brewster who not only modelled on the night but also contributed such a generous amount to the total too.

St Albans people we salute you and on behalf of all those we support, Thank you !!

More events coming up shortly including a concert, another Busking Day on 06 December, plus a simply wonderful World Aids Day exhibition of the ground breaking Stand Tall Get Snapped photography exhibition at St Albans Cathedral for two weeks from the 24th November to 05 December, a stall in the Christmas Market, street collections in December and more, keep watching this space for more news coming soon !!

Thanks again for your continued support

HIV Training Service Proving A Great Success !

Hi All,

Feedback from our training sessions today and last Friday shows that there is an ever present need for HIV educators to work with all sectors of the community to spread awareness, discuss the issue of stigma and encourage regular testing.

We had an excellent response from a training session at the University of East London last week, and our presentations to teams of Health Care professionals in Buckinghamshire last month, and again this week.

100% of attendees rated the courses delivered as excellent or good (at least 75% rated as excellent in all categories, such as meeting needs, relevance, content, and delivery)

Comments made during and after the events included;

“Excellent presentation, very informative” ”

“I thoroughly enjoyed the course which added more to my knowledge of HIV/AIDS”

“Really interesting, I’m going to have a talk with my children”

“Thank you for the training, you have opened my eyes and dispelled some myths – it was brilliant”

“An excellent contribution on living with HIV and even better to hear from the 50+ generation too”

“We had a great session demystifying HIV with members of Crescent Support Group. A truly wonderful time spent”

“Good session, cleared some HIV myths and perceptions. HIV is not a death sentence and your social status does not protect you from it”
“The Crescent is really dispelling the myths of HIV”

We look forward to delivering more of our training with those organisations that have already contacted us, and are very willing to assist anyone looking for similar training / education packages or PLWHIV as public speakers. All of our training is delivered by people living with, or affected by HIV.

Wonderful News From The Cathedral and Abbey Church of St Albans

Dear all,

Fantanstic news !! The Cathedral have made a substantial donation to the Save The Crescent Fund !! We are very pleased to receive such a kind and generous gift and this is a great start to our fundraising appeal.

This means we will be able to restart more services sooner than expected to help those living with, or affected by HIV, in the Diocese. This along with several other generous donations from local people, and from further afield, is helping us maintain our much needed services.

The Crescent on behalf of their members would like to express their heartfelt thanks for this donation which is a great start to our forthcoming fundraising event. We are now looking forward to the concert on 22nd of February which we expect will be a great success, and hope will bring more much needed funds for our service.

Tomorrow there will be an article in the Hertfordshire Advertiser about the benefit concert on 22nd Feb, details of which we will post here shortly.

Thanks once again to the Cathedral and of course to all of you providing us with such wonderful support!

Best wishes

The Crescent Team
